answer to pow's question!

here's the answer to pow's question!
or my question actually haha.

TIMEX says the hands on timepieces are placed at 10:10 so the company logo on the face will be framed and not blocked by the hands. Also, the industry standard used to by 8:20 but that looked too much like a frown and created an unhappy look. In its ads, TIMEX says the clock hands are placed at 10:09:36 exactly.

This all might make some sense when you think about the emotionalmarketing perspective. Manufacturers want you to see their product'smiling' at you!
